How To Burn XBox 360 Games
With A Normal PC DVD Drive

This tutorial is a complete noob's guide on how to rip and burn XBox 360 games under Windows.

You Will Need:

  • wxRipper 1.2
  • abgx360 v1.0.2
  • abgx360 3rd Wave ISO
  • abgx360 4th Wave ISO
  • IMG Burn
  • A Regular DVD Movie, larger than 7.5GB
  • Paper Clip
  • A DVD burner capable of burning Dual Layer discs.

    Getting Started/Setup:

-Download and extract wxRipper to wherever you like.
    -Download and install IMG Burn.
    -Download and install abgx360.
-Download the abox360 3rd Wave ISO, extract the ISO and place it in "C:\Program Files\abgx360\StealthFiles".
-Download the abox360 4th Wave ISO, extract the ISO and place it in "C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\abgx360\StealthFiles".
-*Important* Now follow this tutorial to configure abgx360. Make sure you then save the settings by going to File>Save.
-Get your paper clip and bend it like so:

    Ripping a Game:

-Insert your regular DVD movie into your PC's DVD drive. Close any auto run stuff that comes up.
    -Run 'wxRipper.exe'
-Select the correct drive in which the DVD is in.

    -Click 'Find Magic Number'
    112el94.png

-Your numbers will be different, but it doesn't matter.
-Now go to 'File>Save Layout File...'
-Save the file to wherever, then open that file in notepad.
    14mgtpv.png

-Now change the C from the 1st and 3rd line to a D.
    2qcnt76.png

-Save the file (File>Save) then close notepad.
-Go back to wxRipper and select 'File>Open Layout File...'
-Locate the file you just edited and open it.
-The first three lines in wxRipper should now all say 'Dummy' instead of 'Copy, Dummy, Copy'
    1zghvr.png

    -Now go to 'Hotswap>Stop Drive'
    2hicpi9.png

THROUGHOUT THE FOLLOWING NEXT STEPS, NEVER PRESS THE EJECT BUTTON OR YOU WILL HAVE TO START OVER!
-Go to your DVD drive, use the paper clip to manually release the drive. There should be a little hole on your DVD drive, put the paper clip in and push.

    a5jfbr.jpg

-Put in your XBox 360 game. Then close the drive manually. You will have to use some speed build up, so the drive relocks itself. You will hear it lock.

    2ni6t7o.jpg

-Now go back to wxRipper and select 'Hotswap>Spin Drive'.
IF YOUR DVD DRIVE MAKES A LOUD AWFUL NOISE, PRESS THE EJECT BUTTON!
The reason for this noise is because the drive did not relock properly. If this occurs, you have to start the process over again, and when it's time to put the 360 game in, close the drive a little faster so the drive can lock manually.

-If your spins up normally, you may proceed.

-The DVD drive will think for a second while spinning up the disc. Now it's time to start dumping to game.
-Press 'Start Dump' and choose a location where to save the ISO. Make sure you have sufficient hard drive space! (8GB Recommended)
    -The game will start dumping...

Be patient, dumping takes anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes (depending on the DVD drive's read speed).

*NOTE* - If wxRipper stops after dumping the first 3 lines. Stop it and restart the process but this time when you edit the layout file, only replace the 1st line with a D. If that doesn't work, try again but only replace the 3rd with a D.

-Once wxRipper is finished, it should say it's done. It will look something like this:

-You can now close wxRipper and delete the layout file.
-Now it's time to patch the game with abgx360 to make it compatible with iXtreme, and make it safe for XBox Live online play.

    Patching a Game:

-Before proceeding, make sure abgx360 is configured properly to the tutorial listed under "Getting Started/Setup".
-Open up abgx360 and locate the game ISO you just dumped.
    -Press 'Launch'

    sc6mpv.png
    1z6l8x.png

-CMD will open, just let it do it's thing untill it tells you to 'Press Any Key To Continue . . .'
-At this point it does not matter how many things are yellow or red.
-The only thing that matters is that the game CRC passed. This will take roughly 5 to 6 minutes to check.
    sx0h2u.png

*NOTE* - If the game CRC does not checkout green, it means the game was dumped improperly. You MUST redump the game, you cannot patch the game to fix it, the ISO is useless.

-Once the game has run through once, run it through a second time to make sure everything was patched properly the first time.
-This time, everything should be green!

-If everything is green, your game is ready to burn!
    -You can now close abgx360.

    Burning a Game:

-The nice thing about IMG Burn is that you don't have to worry about layer break crap. If you don't know what that means, don't worry, just follow these steps.
    -Open up IMG Burn.
-Select 'Write image file to disc'
    5xua1t.png

-Once you have done that, find the .dvd file for the game you just dumped.
*NOTE* - You MUST select the .dvd and NOT the .iso file. If you choose the ISO file, your game will not work! 5v6c1w.png
(You will notice at the bottom of IMG Burn it says 'Disc NOT Empty'. This is because my 360 game is still in my DVD drive.)
    10ho85w.png

-Take out your 360 game (if it's still in your drive) and put in a blank dual layer DVD. You can use your eject button now.
-Set your write speed to 2.4x, you can use a higher speed but it isn't recommended due to the possibility of data corruption.
    16lbpjo.png

-Once everything is good, you can press burn.
    2f080mx.png

-It is recommended you don't use any programs that load a lot, like full screen applications. You want to keep your hard drive free of activity so that IMG Burn can keep the buffer pretty much full. If the buffer runs out, your disc is dead.
-IMG Burn will take about 39 to 42 minutes to burn a game at 2.4x
-There would be two more screen shots (one for burning in progress, one for completion), but obviously I don't want to burn a game I already have.
-IMG Burn will tell you when it's done with a message box and a little sound clip.

    Thats It!

Your burned disc is now ready to be played in your XBox 360. You can check the actual disc in abgx360 by clicking on the drop down arrow and selecting 'Burned DVD' then just select your computer's DVD drive from the other drop down menu.

Hope this helps, and I hope you appreciate it. Took about 2.5 to 3 hours to wright with all the screen shots and image editing. (I had to use MS-Paint lol)

    Cheers!
